Art Education Exhibition
Check out this press release for the art education alumni show. This has been my favorite show every year since I moved to Memphis and I'm really excited about being the juror this year.

Demetrius Oliver
Demetrius Oliver gave a talk about his work tonight at Rhodes College . I took some notes for those of you who were off having fun at CAA or doing critiques at UM or living on other continents or whatever. There's a reception tomorrow from 6-8.
2. Green Sharpie
3. Comedic spelling errors
4. Thumbnail sketches galore!
I think this is my favorite note of the group, but he didn't spend nearly enough time on the image. He's wearing a bunch of briefs, maybe six pair and they're all stacked neatly like a really odd totem pole. I don't think it's going to be in the show, but it's a really interesting image.

*lazy me, it just took two clicks!
Here are my exciting notes. They are exciting for four reasons:
1. I finally figured on how to autoflip photos from Photobooth.*2. Green Sharpie
3. Comedic spelling errors
4. Thumbnail sketches galore!

OK, so this is the answer to my question at the end of the talk. I wanted to know what he was reading now, since a lot of the work makes reference to American Literature. I was hoping he would say something fun like Barbara Kilarski's book "Keep Chickens."
Here are the answers to two other questions:

Mobile Press Register
When things get quiet on the blog, you know they're getting crazy in real life.

This week I've been preparing for a solo show at the ASMS gallery in Mobile, Alabama.
Thomas Harrison wrote an article about it in the Mobile Press-Register.
More later (as the dust settles).
